For Dr. Regina Isabel Santos-Morales, providing the best quality of oral health care to patients entails having a strong foundation of the fundamentals in dental medicine while embracing innovation and pursuing lifelong learning. Her knowledge in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry has been enhanced through professional education and her clinical skills refined through years of intensive training and experience.

She graduated top 5% in her class from the University of the Philippines, College of Dentistry in 1992 and placed second at the Philippine Dental Board Examinations of that year out of 1,628 candidates.

In 1993, she was accepted at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she received her Certificate of Periodontics in 1995. She was the youngest in her class of 10. After her postgraduate studies, she was invited to become a teaching fellow at the Department of Periodontics in the same university at the same time was given the chance to treat advance periodontal plastic surgery cases under master clinician Dr. Jay Seibert.

From 1994 to 1996, she was a clinical instructor and full-time lecturer of Periodontology in their undergraduate program. And in 1996, she continued her training in Implant Dentistry through the Nobel Biocare Implant Fellowship also in the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Implant Center under Dr. Henry Salama, Dr. Arnold Weisgold and Dr. Morton Amsterdam. She was the very first foreign trained dentist to be accepted in this extensive implant fellowship (that only accepts one fellow per year) that integrates further her knowledge in the treatment planning of comprehensive periodontal-prosthesis cases that University of Pennsylvania has known to fully master. Upon her graduation, she was awarded the distinguished Director’s Award, Chace Scholarship Award and Coslet Scholarship Award given to the most outstanding student.

Professionally, she is an active international member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the Asia-Pacific Society of Periodontology. And to date, she is the ONLY Diplomate of the American Academy Periodontology practicing in the Philippines. Also, she is an active member of the Philippine Dental Association and is listed in its Speaker’s Bureau. She is part of the Core group of the Philippine Society of Periodontology that seeks to teach and spread the specialty of Periodontics in the Philippines. She is an editor of the Journal of Philippine Dental Association. Recently, her hard work and commitment to education was recognized as she was invited and inducted to become a fellow with the International College of Dentists.

To continuously enrich her expertise in dentistry, she regularly attends seminars and conferences locally and abroad. Dr. Morales generously shares her knowledge by giving lectures on new trends and techniques and is devoted to the advancement of the profession especially in the field of Periodontics and Implant Dentistry in the Philippines. She is also a much sought after lecturer around the country as she gives her lectures with contagious passion and with beautiful well prepared presentations that gives that undeniable impact to her audience. She also has several published articles in the European Journal of Esthetic Dentistry.

In her quest for excellence, she has limited her practice to the treatment of gum diseases, esthetic gum surgery and implant placement. This allows her to further hone her skills and master her craft. She works hand in hand with a team of qualified dental specialists to provide a comprehensive dental treatment that will help patients achieve and maintain a lifetime goal of optimum oral health. She enjoys working and communicating with her referring dentist and co-specialists to be able to provide the patient the most ideal treatment plan possible. After all, the patient’s best interest is her priority. And passion for excellence is her motto.

In addition to her private practice, she heads the Periodontics Section of the Dental Department at the Makati Medical Center.

Dr. Xenia Velmonte

Dr. Ma. Xenia A. Velmonte espouses the highest degree of professional standards as a practicing Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in the Philippines. Her dedication to her career started as a Research Grant Awardee of the Philippine Government’s Department of Science and Technology as a Dentistry student. She went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of the Philippines College of Dentistry, Manila, in 1992.

She received training at various medical institutions, both local such as the Philippine General Hospital and overseas including the Medical College of Wisconsin. She continued her residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1999 at the St. Martin de Porres Charity Hospital (Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Department of Dentistry).

As one of the Philippines’ leading Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, she is actively staffed at the Asian Hospital and Medical Center in Alabang, Muntinlupa and at Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Paranaque City.

She is likewise staffed as a visiting consultant at the Makati Medical Center and at the FortMed Clinics both located in Makati City. She also holds office at the Medical Plaza Makati Towers and at the Nordhoff Craniofacial Foundation Philippines in Manila.

As surgical techniques, schools of thought, instrumentation and equipment continually evolve, Dr. Velmonte invests both time and resources to keep abreast of the latest developments in the specialty to enhance her skills and case management knowledge.

In the last decade, she has completed several courses and participated in conferences on facial deformities, trauma and reconstruction, and bone grafting as she strives for excellence in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) for the benefit of her patients.

Dr. Ma. Xenia A. Velmonte has been a prime mover in the development of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) as a specialty in the Philippines.

Since the mid 90s, she has been coordinating with medical practitioners and other specialists to advocate and support the creation of craniofacial teams in various hospitals and foundations. She has organized workshops and forums, and is a sought after speaker herself in the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

She has also spearheaded the documentation and publication of research studies and reports thru both local and international organizations and medical institutions. In addition to that, her work and qualifications have been recognized by specialty boards and international, private foundations. She is also currently actively affiliated with the numerous organizations such as International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and International College of Dentists among others.

Dr. Layra Marabe

Dr. Marabe is a graduate of the University of the Philippines Manila College of Dentistry Batch 2009. She placed 8th in the Philippine Dental Board Examinations of the same year. Backed by significant academic skills and knowledge, she is trained to provide superior quality of service and is capable of empathizing with patients. To expand her knowledge, she attended a comprehensive seminar-training under the Philippine Society of Periodontology last May 2012. Working under Dr. Morales gave her the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of periodontal cases thus enriching her clinical skills in diagnosis and treatment planning. With a compassionate heart and skillful hands, she readily earns her patients’ trust and confidence. Her passion for her profession has shaped her to become a competent oral health care provider making the world a better place one smile at a time.
